Cohen's Moral Panic
This is a section of the media or a social group that is perceived to be a threat to society. There are five different sections in Cohen's Moral Panic.
Hostility - There is a construction of 'folk devils', that create a divide between 'them' and 'us'.
Volatility - Dramatic panics erupt over subject but don't last long. Results in negative consequence for those not campaigning.
Concern - The behavior of the group believed to be a threat.
Consensus - There is widespread acceptance of this threat, but very little concern, opposition will be weak and disorganized.
Disproportionality - exaggeration of both the scale of the problem and the number of people both suffering and protesting.

Rule Of Thirds
The rule of thirds is a method of taking photographs by dividing the image into 9 equal segments using two vertical and two horizontal lines. The main subject within the image is aligned at two points were the lines meet. This in turn shifts the main subject from the center of the image, allowing linear features within the image to flow from one section to another. One of the main reasons that the Rule of Thirds is used is to remove the chance of 'splitting' the image in half. Within my photography i will aim to use the Rule of Thirds where possible.

Feminist Theory
The Feminist Theory argues that media is a product of predominant male control. The theory states that the media objectifies women as sex objects. Stating that they are in their posts because of the way they look rather than their professional credentials. As a result of the feminist theory Laura Mulvey created the 'Male Gaze' theory, this is the idea that media is aimed more towards men, for example, the front covers of magazines tend to depict woman in seductive poses. Here is an example of the male gaze, depicting Jessie J in hot pants, high heels and tights with cuts in. The point of this is to attract male attention in order to get more men to buy their magazine. It is argued that this can be demeaning to women however artists such as Jessie J tend not to be to perturbed by it.
The 'male gaze' has two sections:
Voyeurism - Turning something into an object in the attempt yo make it increasingly beautiful.
Fetishism - When a female, is perceived as beautiful and yet treated as an object.

Quantitative / Qualitative research
To create my questionnaire I had to include both quantitative and qualitative questions, Quantitative research allows people to give their own answer to a question, meaning that they have to write their answer themselves, giving a more accurate answer you the question, however people are less likely to be willing to fill it in due to the extra time it takes to write the answer, and results will be harder to collate.
Qualitative research meant that people have a multiple choice answer and therefore tick the answer that most suits their circumstance. This results in more people being willing to fill in the questionnaire in addition to the answers being easy to correlate. However, this method also means that the questioner does not get an exact answer from the person being questioned but an answer that is available. I have decided to use both forms of research in my questionnaire and have place each type of question where i have deemed it mose necessary to my research.
